World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Thailand and Iraq play out 2-2 draw
BANGKOK, Sep. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Thailand tied 2-2 with Iraq (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
The Iraqis started off well by taking the lead thanks to Meram in the 34th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Mahmoud goal ('49) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Thailand with goals by Theerathon ('80 on penalty) and Mongkol ('83).
The result put the Thai top of Group F with 7 points. Iraq is second with 4 points. In their next game, Thailand will meet Indonesia at the Rajamangala National Stadium on October 8, while Iraq will face Vietnam.
