World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Vietnam and Iraq play to a 1-1 draw
HANOI, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Vietnam tied 1-1 with Iraq (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.
The Vietnameses started off well by taking the lead thanks to Lê Công Vinh in the 25th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Iraq with a saving goal from Mahmoud on penalty in the 90th minute.
The result put the Iraqi second in Group F with 5 points. Vietnam is third with 4 points. In their next game, Iraq will meet Indonesia at the My Dinh National Stadium on November 12, while Vietnam will face Thailand.
