World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Iraq beats Taiwan 2-0
KAOHSIUNG, Nov. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iraq defeated Taiwan by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the National Stadium in Kaohsiung.
Iraq dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Ismail in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Iraqis further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Mahmoud with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Iraqi second in Group F with 8 points. Taiwan is bottom with no points. In their next game, Iraq will meet group leaders Thailand at the National Stadium on March 24, while Taiwan will face Vietnam.
