HWASEONG, Sep. 3, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : South Korea defeated Laos by a big score of 8-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Hwaseong Sports Complex in Hwaseong.
Son Heung-min scored tripple goals
South Korea dominated the first half thanks to goals from Chung-yong ('9), Heung-min ('12) and Kwon Chang-hoon ('30). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Koreans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Suk Hyun-jun '57, Heung-min '74, '89, Kwon Chang-hoon '75 and Lee Jae-sung '90).
The result put the Koreans top of Group G with 6 points. Laos is bottom with one point. In their next game, South Korea will meet second-placed Lebanon at the Hwaseong Sports Complex on September 8, while Laos will face Kuwait.
