TASHKENT, Sep. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Uzbekistan defeated Syria by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent.
45 minutes of play and neither the Uzbeks nor the Syrians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Geynrikh in the 73rd minute.
The result put the Uzbek second in Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Uzbekistan will meet Qatar at the Bunyodkor Stadium on September 6, while Syria will face South Korea.
