World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : South Korea defeats Qatar 3-2
SUWON, Oct. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : South Korea defeated Qatar by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-2), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Suwon World Cup Stadium.
Qatar had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Al-Haidos ('16 on penalty) and Soria ('45), while South Korea only scored once Sung-yueng ('11). Trailing 2-1 at half time, the Koreans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Dong-won '56 and Heung-min '58).
The result put the Koreans second in Group A with 7 points. Qatar is bottom with no points. In their next game, South Korea will meet group leaders Iran at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on October 11, while Qatar will face Syria.
