TASHKENT, Oct. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iran defeated Uzbekistan by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent.
All the action happened in the first half, with Iranian defender Jalal Hosseini goal in the 27th minute.
The result put the Iranians top of Group A with 7 points. Uzbekistan is second with 6 points. In their next game, Iran will meet third-placed South Korea at the Bunyodkor Stadium on October 11, while Uzbekistan will face China.
