DOHA, Mar. 23, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iran defeated Qatar by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Taremi in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Iranians top of Group A with 14 points. Qatar is 5th with 4 points. In their next game, Iran will meet China at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on March 28, while Qatar will face Uzbekistan.
