World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Syria draw 2-2 with China
KRUBONG, Jun. 13, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Syria tied 2-2 with China (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Krubong.
The Syrians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Al-Mawas on penalty in the 12th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Al Salih goal ('90) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by China with goals by [[Gao Lin ('68 on penalty) and Wu Xi ('75).
The result put the Syrians fourth in Group A with 9 points. China is 5th with 6 points. In their next game, Syria will meet Qatar at the Hang Jebat Stadium on August 31, while China will face Uzbekistan.
