PERTH, Sep. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Australia defeated Iraq by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at Perth Oval.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Luongo ('58) and Juric ('64).
The result put the Australians top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Australia will meet the United Arab Emirates at Perth Oval on September 6, while Iraq will face Saudi Arabia.
