RIYADH, Sep. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Saudi Arabia defeated Thailand by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.
45 minutes of play and neither the Saudis nor the Thais have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Al Abed on penalty with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Saudi third in Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Saudi Arabia will meet Iraq at the King Fahd International Stadium on September 6, while Thailand will face Japan.
