World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Japan beats Thailand 2-0
BANGKOK, Sep. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Japan defeated Thailand by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
Japan dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Genki Haraguchi in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Japaneses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Asano in the 75th minute.
The result put the Japanese third in Group B with 3 points. Thailand is bottom with no points. In their next game, Japan will meet Iraq at the Rajamangala National Stadium on October 6, while Thailand will face the United Arab Emirates.
