World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Iraq and Australia tied at 1-1
TEHRAN, Mar. 23, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iraq tied 1-1 with Australia (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday afternoon at the Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium in Tehran.
The Australians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Australian forward Mathew Leckie in the 40th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Iraq with a saving goal from Yasin in the 76th minute.
The result put the Australians second in Group B with 10 points. Iraq is 5th with 4 points. In their next game, Australia will meet the United Arab Emirates at the Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium on March 28, while Iraq will face Saudi Arabia.
