World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Japan beats UAE 2-0
AL-AIN, Mar. 23, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Japan defeated the United Arab Emirates by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Ain.
Japan dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Kubo in the 14th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Japaneses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Konno in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Japanese second in Group B with 13 points. UAE is fourth with 9 points. In their next game, Japan will meet Thailand at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on March 28, while the United Arab Emirates will face Australia.
