MELBOURNE, Sep. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Australia defeated Thailand by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup qualifying game on Tuesday night at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Thailand made the Australians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Juric ('69) and Leckie ('86).

Australia secured their ticket to the World Cup finals. Thailand is eliminated.
