MEXICO CITY, Nov. 13, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated El Salvador by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Mexico dominated the first half thanks to goals from Guardado ('7) and Herrera ('42). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Mexicans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Vela in the 64th minute.
The result put the Mexicans top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Mexico will meet third-placed Honduras at the Estadio Azteca on November 17, while El Salvador will face Canada.
