SAN PEDRO SULA, Nov. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated Honduras by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Corona ('67) and Damm ('72).
The result put the Mexicans top of Group A with 6 points. Honduras is bottom with no points. In their next game, Mexico will meet second-placed Canada at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano on March 25, while Honduras will face El Salvador.
