VANCOUVER, Mar. 25, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated Canada by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at BC Place in Vancouver.
Mexico dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hernández ('32) and Lozano ('40). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Mexicans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Corona in the 72nd minute.
The result put the Mexicans top of Group A with 9 points. Canada is second with 4 points. In their next game, Mexico will meet second-placed Canada at BC Place on March 29, while Canada will face Mexico.
