SAN PEDRO SULA, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Honduras defeated El Salvador by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula.
45 minutes of play and neither the Hondurans nor the Salvadorans have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by García ('52) and Quioto ('90).
The result put the Hondurans second in Group A with 4 points. El Salvador is bottom with 2 points. In their next game, Honduras will meet third-placed Canada at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano on September 2, while El Salvador will face Mexico.
