MEXICO CITY, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated Canada by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
All the action happened in the first half, with goals from Andrés Guardado ('17 on penalty) and Corona ('48).
The result put the Mexicans top of Group A with 12 points. Canada is third with 4 points. In their next game, Mexico will meet El Salvador at the Estadio Azteca on September 2, while Canada will face Honduras.
