Fortuna Düsseldorf dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Austrian forward Erwin Hoffer in the 23rd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, Fortuna Düsseldorf players further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Pinto in the 62nd minute.
