BATA, Jan. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Gabon defeated Burkina Faso by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a AFCON group stage game on Saturday night at the Estadio de Bata.
Gabon dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Gaboneses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Evouna in the 72nd minute.
The result put the Gabonese top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Gabon will meet second-placed Congo-Brazzaville at the Estadio de Bata on January 21, while Burkina Faso will face Equatorial Guinea.
