AFCON 2015 : Equatorial Guinea and Congo-Brazzaville play out 1-1 draw
BATA, Jan. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Equatorial Guinea 2015 : Equatorial Guinea tied 1-1 with Congo-Brazzaville (halftime: 1-0), in a AFCON group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio de Bata.
The Equatorial Guineans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Equatorial Guinean forward Emilio Nsue in the 16th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Congo-Brazzaville with a saving goal from Congolese forward Thievy Bifouma in the 87th minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group A with one point. In their next game, Congo-Brazzaville will meet Gabon at the Estadio de Bata on January 21, while Equatorial Guinea will face Burkina Faso.
