GOIâNIA, Jul. 6, 1989 (AMP) — Brazil 1989 : Uruguay defeated Chile by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Copa América group stage game on Thursday.

The result put the Uruguayans top of Group B with 6 points. Chile is bottom with no points. In their last game, Uruguay will meet third-placed Argentina on July 8, while Chile will face Bolivia.
