VILLENEUVE-D'ASCQ, Jun. 15, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Slovakia defeated Russia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a Euro group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq.
Slovakia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Weiss ('32) and Hamsik ('45). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Slovaks further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Slovak second in Group B with 3 points. Russia is bottom with one point. In their last game, Slovakia will meet third-placed England at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium on June 20, while Russia will face Wales.
