Euro 2016 : England defeats Wales 2-1
LENS, Jun. 16, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : England defeated Wales by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Euro group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
Wales had started off well by taking the lead in the 42nd minute with a goal by midfielder Gareth Bale. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Englishs nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Vardy '56 and Sturridge '90).
The result put the English top of Group B with 4 points. Wales is second with 3 points. In their last game, England will meet second-placed Slovakia at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on June 20, while Wales will face Russia.
