VILLENEUVE-D'ASCQ, Jun. 12, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Germany defeated Ukraine by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Euro group stage game on Sunday night at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Shkodran Mustafi in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Schweinsteiger in stoppage time.
The result put the Germans top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Germany will meet second-placed Poland at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium on June 16, while Ukraine will face Northern Ireland.
