MLS : Portland defeats Houston 3-2
UNITED STATES, Jun. 26, 2016 (AMP) — MLS: After their 2-2 draw against Real Salt Lake on June 18, the Timbers bounced back with a 3-2 victory over Houston Dynamo this Sunday.
Valeri Diego scored dual goals
Houston Dynamo had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Wenger Andrew ('29) and Bruin Will ('31). Trailing 2-0 at half time, the Timbers nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Melano Lucas '64 and Valeri Diego '82 on penalty, '90 on penalty).
Portland Timbers climbed to 9th place with 23 points from 17 games, tie on points with New York Red Bulls.
