MLS : Portland beats LA Galaxy 3-1

UNITED STATES, Aug. 6, 2017 (AMP) — MLS: After their 2-2 draw against Houston Dynamo on July 29, the Timbers returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over LA Galaxy this Sunday.

Portland Timbers dominated the first half thanks to goals from Ridgewell Liam ('5) and Valeri Diego ('33). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Timbers further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Powell Alvas in the 53rd minute.

Portland Timbers climbed to 10th place with 34 points from 24 games, tie on points with Seattle Sounders FC, which has a game in hand.
