MANAUS, Aug. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Rio 2016 : Nigeria defeated Japan by a score of 5-4 (halftime: 3-2), in a Olympics group stage game on Thursday night at the Arena da Amazonia in Manaus.
Etebo served up another goal feast
Nigeria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Sadiq ('6) and Etebo ('10, '42). Leading 3-2 at the break, the Nigerians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Etebo '52/penalty, '66).
The result put the Nigerians top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Nigeria will meet second-placed Sweden at the Arena da Amazonia on August 7, while Japan will face Colombia.
