World Cup 1930 : USA beats Belgium 3-0

MONTEVIDEO, Jul. 13, 1930 (AMP) — Uruguay 1930 : The United States defeated Belgium by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Estadio Gran Parque Central in Montevideo.

The United States dominated the first half thanks to goals from McGhee ('23) and Florie ('45). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Americans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Patenaude in the 69th minute.

The result put the Americans top of Group 4 with 2 points. In their last game, the United States will meet Paraguay at the Estadio Gran Parque Central on July 17, while Belgium will face Paraguay.
