MONTEVIDEO, Jul. 17, 1930 (AMP) — Uruguay 1930 : The United States defeated Paraguay by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Estadio Gran Parque Central in Montevideo.
Bert Patenaude scored tripple goals
The United States dominated the first half thanks to goals from Patenaude ('10, '15). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Americans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Patenaude in the 50th minute.
