LUGANO, Jun. 20, 1954 (AMP) — Switzerland 54 : Italy defeated Belgium by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Cornaredo Stadium in Lugano.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Egisto Pandolfini in the 41st minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Galli '48, Frignani '58 and Lorenzi '78).
