World Cup 1982 : Italy draw 1-1 with Peru
VIGO, Jun. 18, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Italy tied 1-1 with Peru (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Balaidos Stadium in Vigo.
The Italians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Italian midfielder Bruno Conti in the 18th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Peru with a saving goal from Peruvian defender Rubén Toribio Díaz in the 83rd minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group A with 2 points. In their last game, Peru will meet group leaders Poland at the Balaidos Stadium on June 22, while Italy will face Cameroon.
