World Cup 1994 : Germany hold Spain to 1-1

CHICAGO, Jun. 21, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Germany tied 1-1 with Spain (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday afternoon at the Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Spaniards started off well by taking the lead thanks to Spanish midfielder Ion Andoni Goikoetxea in the 14th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Germany with a saving goal from German forward Jürgen Klinsmann in the 48th minute.

The result put the Germans top of Group C with 4 points. Spain is second with 2 points. In their last game, Germany will meet third-placed South Korea at the Soldier Field on June 27, while Spain will face Bolivia.
