EAST RUTHERFORD, Jun. 23, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Italy defeated Norway by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Italian midfielder Dino Baggio in the 69th minute.
The result left both teams tied in the second place of Group E with 3 points. In their last game, Norway will meet group leaders Ireland at the Giants Stadium on June 28, while Italy will face Mexico.
