ORLANDO, Jun. 24, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Mexico defeated Ireland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
Luis García scored dual goals
Mexico dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Luis García in the 42nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Mexicans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by García in the 65th minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group E with 3 points. In their last game, Ireland will meet third-placed Norway at the Citrus Bowl on June 28, while Mexico will face Italy.
