DAMASCUS, Jun. 6, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (Asian Qualifiers) : Kyrgyzstan defeated the Maldives by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Friday afternoon.
The result put the Kyrgyz third in Group 2 with 3 points. The Maldives is bottom with no points. In their next game, Kyrgyzstan will meet group leaders Iran on June 9, while the Maldives will face Syria.
