SEOUL, Nov. 1, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (Asian Qualifiers) : Japan defeated South Korea by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Saturday afternoon.
The result put the Koreans top of Group B with 16 points. Japan is second with 10 points. In their last game, South Korea will meet third-placed the United Arab Emirates on November 9, while Japan will face Kazakhstan.
