NUREMBERG, Jun. 11, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Mexico defeated Iran by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Frankenstadion in Nuremberg.
Omar Bravo scored dual goals
Mexican forward Omar Bravo opened the score in the 28th minute, before seeing Iran catch up in the 36th minute thanks to Yahya Golmohammadi. 1-1 at half time. The Mexicans eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Bravo ('76) and Sinha ('79).
The result put the Mexicans top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Mexico will meet Angola at the Frankenstadion on June 16, while Iran will face Portugal.
