FRANKFURT, Jun. 17, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Portugal defeated Iran by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt.
45 minutes of play and neither the Portugueses nor the Iranians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Deco ('63) and Ronaldo ('80 on penalty).
The result put the Portuguese top of Group D with 6 points. Iran is bottom with no points. In their last game, Portugal will meet second-placed Mexico at the Waldstadion on June 21, while Iran will face Angola.
