COUVA, Jan. 4, 2017 (AMP) — USA 2017 (Qualifiers) : Suriname defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 after extra time, in a qualifying game for the 2017 Caribbean Cup (Fifth place playoff) on Wednesday night at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.
The score was still 1-1 after the 90 minutes of regulation time, after goals from Kwasie ('76) for Suriname and Charles ('82) for Trinidad and Tobago, and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 110th minute, it was ultimately Rozenblad who brought the Suriboys to victory by scoring the winning goal.
The result put the Surinamese top of the group with 3 points. In their last game, Suriname will meet Haiti at the Ato Boldon Stadium on January 6, while Trinidad and Tobago will face Haiti.
