Championship (Week 9) : Aston Villa draw 1-1 with Newcastle
ENGLAND, Sep. 24, 2016 (AMP) — Championship / Match day 9: Newcastle was held to a 1-1 draw by Aston Villa on Saturday.
Newcastle players started off well by taking the lead thanks to Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick into his own net in the 28th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Aston Villa with a saving goal from Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola in the 88th minute.
Newcastle United are down in fifth place with 16 points from 9 games, one point behind Reading FC.
