GISENYI, Jan. 23, 2016 (AMP) — Rwanda 2016 : Mali defeated Zimbabwe by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a CHAN group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Umuganda Stadium in Gisenyi.
Zimbabwe made the Malians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Malian midfielder Moussa Sissoko with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Malians top of Group D with 4 points. Zimbabwe is bottom with no points. In their last game, Mali will meet second-placed Zambia at the Umuganda Stadium on January 27, while Zimbabwe will face Uganda.
