SALTA, Jul. 9, 2011 (AMP) — Argentina 2011 : Venezuela defeated Ecuador by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a Copa América group stage game on Saturday night at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena in Salta.
Ecuador made the Venezuelans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by C. González in the 61st minute.
The result put the Venezuelans top of Group B with 4 points. Ecuador is bottom with one point. In their last game, Venezuela will meet Paraguay at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena on July 13, while Ecuador will face Brazil.
