East Asian Cup 2017 Qualifiers : Taiwan beats Northern Mariana Islands 8-1
DEDEDO, Jun. 30, 2016 (AMP) — Japan 2017 (Qualifiers) : Taiwan defeated Northern Mariana Islands by a big score of 8-1 (halftime: 4-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 EAFF East Asian Cup (First Round) on Thursday afternoon at the Guam Football Association National Training Center in Dededo.
Lin Chien-hsun served up another goal feast
Taiwan dominated the first half thanks to goals from Wu Chun-ching ('30), Chen Wei-chuan ('37), Lin Chien-hsun ('40) and Chen Yi-wei ('45). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Taiwaneses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Wu Chun-ching '56 and Lin Chien-hsun '64, '81, '90).
The result put the Taiwanese top of the group with 3 points. In their next game, Taiwan will meet second-placed Mongolia at the Guam Football Association National Training Center on July 2, while Northern Mariana Islands will face Macau.
