LYON, Jun. 13, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Italy defeated Belgium by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Euro group stage game on Monday night at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Emanuele Giaccherini in the 32nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Pellè in stoppage time.
The result put the Italians top of Group E with 3 points. In their next game, Italy will meet second-placed Sweden at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on June 17, while Belgium will face Ireland.
