Euro 2016 : Portugal hold Iceland to 1-1
SAINT-ÉTIENNE, Jun. 14, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Portugal tied 1-1 with Iceland (halftime: 1-0), in a Euro group stage game on Tuesday night at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne.
The Portugueses started off well by taking the lead thanks to Portuguese midfielder Nani in the 31st minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Iceland with a saving goal from Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason in the 50th minute.
The result left both teams tied in the second place of Group F with one point. In their next game, Iceland will meet group leaders Hungary at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on June 18, while Portugal will face Austria.
