Euro 2016 : Iceland and Hungary play out 1-1 draw
MARSEILLE, Jun. 18, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Iceland tied 1-1 with Hungary (halftime: 1-0), in a Euro group stage game on Saturday night at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.
The Icelanders started off well by taking the lead thanks to Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson on penalty in the 40th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Hungary with a saving goal from Sævarsson into his own net in the 88th minute.
The result put the Hungarians top of Group F with 4 points. Iceland is second with 2 points. In their last game, Hungary will meet Portugal at the Stade Vélodrome on June 22, while Iceland will face Austria.
