PASADENA, Jul. 7, 2013 (AMP) — USA 2013 : Panama defeated Mexico by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Gold Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
G. Torres scored dual goals
G. Torres opened the score in the 7th minute on penalty, before seeing Mexico catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Marco Fabián. 1-1 at half time. The Panamanians eventually won the game in the second period with with another goal by G. Torres in the 48th minute.
The result put the Panamanians top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Panama will meet second-placed Martinique at the Rose Bowl on July 11, while Mexico will face Canada.
